I think that there must be an issue with WiFi interference. I live in a condo with multiple WiFi signals and it would be nice if Sony could add an option to change WiFi channels on the controller. I will have to try the hard wire Ethernet cable and see if that changes anything for me.

Reformatted the PlayStation completely, still had the same issue. For me this issue was the wifi connection! For some reason, whenever the wifi dropped out mine was from a weak connection to my room the controller would drop out too.
